I think Midnight is my Favorite

My PaPa built this barn, back oh I don't know, maybe 60 years ago. I can remember a time when it was filled with the squeals of pigs and surrounded by a field full of cows swatting flies with their tails. My Papa drove a beat-up Ford truck, wore faded OshKosh overalls and dusty brown boots everyday. In his pockets he carried peppermints and a dog-eared miniature notepad with notes about his brood..."such and such pinkeye 3 days...etc.". I have only those kinds of memories about him, things a little girl would remember.

Like when he laughed and laughed after pulling my little sister out of the bed of the truck and set her sqaurely down into a fresh pile of manure. She was wearing her new Mickey Mouse flip flops that matched mine and well...she was not happy. She was crying, he was laughing, and I was standing with my hands on my hips yelling at him to "Stop laughing at my sister! Hmmp!".

One day while my Granny was frying up some goodies, he walked into the kitchen and forgetting my sister and I were there I think, "goosed" my Granny right on the rear. She screamed, smacked him and they both turned back to see Andi and I cracking up at the table.

I miss him terribly and wish he was here to see his great-grandbabies. The tobacco he farmed is the reason my memories of him stop at age 12. Two of the other barns have already been torn down, but I think they are gonna have to get through me to take this one.

In A Day

...trip that is.

We went to visit my Granny today. Three hours up and three hours back in one day, it's not too bad of a trip really. She and my Papa farmed the land years ago and the place is littered with reminders of an era gone by. I love the country...I mean love it. I does something for the soul to go to a place where you can look in all directions and basically see no other sign of human life. I think it is the expanse of space I love. Nothing but grass and trees and little critters all around. A far cry from the smashed together houses where we live. I took about a million photos today realizing I don't have any that showed the simple features of the landscape there, all the things that seem so familiar to me in this place I have spent countless vacations since my birth. I am getting acquainted with photoshop and spent most of the drive home "playing" with it on my laptap (seems the colors on my laptap where I did my editing are MUCH less vivid than here on my desktop at home).

He's such a good sport..posing for me while I try out my new lens. It's scary when I play in photoshop sometimes!

Wild One

Just listed this M2MG Twirl skirt for the Zebra line...L2 had so much fun with these pics (I'm pretty sure she thinks she is a supermodel). I know most of the Gymbo tops in this line are long sleeve, but I just couldn't pass on the chance to make somthing for it even though most of us are buying for spring now. I am planning on making L2 a short sleeve applique top to match the skirt so she can keep on wearing it into summer. My friend Melissa of TheBowVine made these super FAB matching bows- LOVE em!
